Trevarno Estate Gardens, Set in the heart of the Trevarno Estate, which dates back to 1246, the beautiful Victorian and Georgian gardens are gradually being restored by Mike Sarin and his team. There are a variety of themed gardens within the Estate including a special collection of bamboos and a 'pinetum' comprising nearly 200 varieties.

The newly opened National Museum of Gardening is a remarkable celebration of Britain’s gardening heritage. There are a number of workshops on site including The Bee Workshop, The Organic Herbal and the Handmade Soap Workshop. You can ‘try before you buy’ as far as soap is concerned because we use it as the guest soap in our cottages.

We’ve worked out a short, circular walk from our doorstep, which takes in Trevarno.

 

In the care of the National Trust, Trellisick overlooks Carrick Roads (the Falmouth Estuary) and as such offers fine sea views.

This relatively young garden has an abundance of rhododendrons, hydrangeas and camellias.
     

Sub-titled the Garden of Dreams, Trebah is a beautiful 26 acre garden listed among the top 80 gardens in the World! The wooded ravine leads down to a private beach on the Helford River.

It was from this beach that the 29th US Infantry Division embarked for the assault on Omaha Beach on D-Day in 1944.

Trebah is open every day and is a garden for all seasons with colour and scent throughout the year.

     

Another National Trust managed treasure, Glendurgan is set in a sheltered valley with a lush display of trees, rare shrubs and wild flowers.

The laurel maze and Giant's Stride are particularly popular with younger visitors.
     
 

The Lost Gardens of Heligan near St Austell were rediscovered in 1990 after some 75 years of neglect. A dedicated team of enthusiasts is working to restore this "beautiful and mysterious" place.

Which? Magazine awarded Heligan its 'Best Outdoor Attraction' 5 star award in 2000.

     

The Eden Project continues to exhaust the supply of superlatives.

The recent Yellow Pages survey placed the Eden Project in its Seven Wonders of Great Britain alongside Hadrian's Wall and the Houses of Parliament.


We should also mention Trewithen, Lanhydrock, Cotehele, Lamorna House and if you are hopping on the 'Scillonian' or the helicopter, you can take in Tresco Abbey Gardens. All these gardens are currently part of the Great Gardens of Cornwall campaign, which in 2002 had an attractive reduced entry fee offer which kicks in after you have visited your first garden in the scheme.
